DBIS - Conrad Gessner's Private Library Online

Conrad Gessner's Private Library Online is not a collection on the history of the Reformation in the narrower sense, but rather includes the 78 titles (approx. 26,000 pages) of the reconstructed private library of the Swiss universal scholar and contemporary of the Reformation Conrad Gessner (1515-1565), which were intensively annotated by him with handwritten notes. Thus, the collection is of unique value and of great scientific and historical importance.

Online access is provided as part of the Alliance Initiative Digital Information with financial support from the German Research Foundation (DFG) - and from 2017 as a national license - and organized by the Bavarian State Library in Munich.
