Topographia Franconiae

Historical local information for Franconia
The Topographia Franconiae project has set itself the goal of the development of historical geographical local information on the area of the former Franconian Reichskreis and the current Franconian government districts. Request works, travel descriptions and location views from the 16th to the early 20th centuries are geo -referenced, linked to current and historical maps and provided under a comfortable graphic user interface. This is supposed to create a reference source on the history of Franconian places and territories.
As a Franconian contribution, the Topographia Franconiae was integrated into the optimization of the historical-geographical offer of information from the Bavarian State Library, which was undertaken in a joint cooperation project at the University of Würzburg and the Bavarian State Library in 2010 to 2012.
