Zwangsarbeit 1939 - 1945 : Erinnerungen und Geschichte

The digital archive “Forced Labor 1939 - 1945” preserves the memory of over twelve million people who did forced labor for National Socialist Germany.

Almost 600 former forced laborers from 26 countries tell their life stories in detailed audio and video interviews. Schools and memorials, teaching and research can use the memories of survivors.

The archive is part of the “Oral-History.Digital” project. The expansion of the online platform, further translation, indexing and didactic preparation will continue. The project is supported by the “Remembrance, Responsibility and Future” Foundation in cooperation with the Free University of Berlin and the German Historical Museum.
