The Encyclopedia of Fairy Tales brings together the results of almost 200 years of international research in the field of popular narrative tradition in around 4,000 articles. In addition to fairy tales, it takes into account all genres and media of written and oral narratives, explores types, materials and motifs, deals with theories, methods and questions of style and presents a wide variety of countries and regions, as well as individual storytellers, collectors and researchers.
[The print edition was published in 15 volumes with a total of around 10,800 pages. It was compiled by renowned publishers and editors with the participation of 1,050 contributors from all over the world and in collaboration with the Göttingen Academy of Sciences.]
