The aim of e-codices is to make Switzerland's medieval manuscripts accessible through a virtual library. The integral digital reproductions of the manuscripts are linked to scientific descriptions in e-codices. The offer is aimed at manuscript-oriented research, but also at interested laypeople.
Currently (as of 10/2025) there are approximately 3,000 digitized manuscripts available from 100 different collections. The virtual library is constantly being expanded.
