The Deutsches Biographisches Archiv (DBA, German Biographical Archive) contains:
DBA I: The German Biographical Archive I contains 480,000 complete biographical articles on 213,000 persons from the German language and cultural area. The biographies are digitised original articles from 265 sources in 743 volumes published between 1707 and 1913.
DBA II: The German Biographical Archive II Online contains 340,000 complete biographical articles on 280,000 persons from the German language and cultural area. The biographies are digitized original articles from 301 sources in 735 volumes published between 1844 and 1988.
DBA III: The German Biographical Archive 1960-1999 supplements Archives I and II with a collection of sources published up until 1999. The archive gives a comprehensive overview of the history of Germany, Austria and Switzerland and provides a picture of post-war history from the beginning of European unification to the ending of the Cold War. It contains around 250,000 entries on about 180,000 persons from the German-language area. 364 biographical reference works in about 500 volumes were evaluated for this purpose.
