DASI - Digital Archive for the Study of pre-Islamic Arabian Inscriptions

The DASI project is a digital archive for the study of pre-Islamic Arabic inscriptions.
Content and aims: DASI seeks to collect all known pre-Islamic Arabic epigraphic material in a comprehensive online database, with the aim of making them available to professionals and the general public a wide range of documents that are often underestimated because they are difficult to access, so that the rich cultural heritage of ancient Arabia can be studied in a holistic way, filling an important gap in the history of the ancient Middle East. As part of the project, the University of Pisa team has made nearly 8,200 ancient Arabic inscriptions and 600 other anepigraphic objects publicly available. The digitisation of the ancient South Arabian corpus continued after the end of the funded project and is currently being carried out at the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche.
