The Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics was founded in Philadelphia in 1951 and has over 14,000 members. Siam is co -organizer of the International Congress on Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ICIAM), which takes place every four years, the largest international conference for applied mathematics.
