Postal Statistics

The international office of the World Postverein has been published regularly since the first edition in 1875. This means that it has the oldest records of international statistics that have been collected by an international organization. These statistics have been continuously supplemented and improved in order to meet the expectations and information needs of the post sector as much as possible. The aim of these post statistics is not only to offer a single source of information for data, but also to serve as an analytical work instrument at both international and national level. At the international level, the data enables conclusions to be drawn about general tendencies in postal traffic and the funds used to process this traffic. At the national level, the data can be used by the postal operators to efficiently manage and plan their services. The statistical database of the UPU offers a dynamic overview of postal development in every country. It contains data from over 200 countries and areas and comprises around 100 indicators of postal development, which are summarized in 12 chapters. The data is collected annually by all UPU member countries and published in the Postal Statistics Yearbook.
