As part of the official statistics in Germany, the Federal Employment Agency compiles and publishes statistics on the labor market and basic security for job seekers for all regions. The statistics are arranged by the second and third books of the Social Code (SGB II and SGB III). They are compiled as departmental statistics under the technical supervision of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. The labor market and basic security statistics are compiled with a high level of timeliness in order to give the institutions and politicians directly involved in the labor market a secure basis for assessing the overall situation and regional developments. This enables needs for action to be identified in good time and measures to be planned. The statistics provide users with guidance for professional and economic decisions. They provide the basic data for labor market research, supplement the statistics of the Federal Statistical Office and the state statistical offices, and are an important source for the work of the municipal statistical offices.
