Über 270.000 Titel (Stand 03/21) umfasst das Projekt auf archive.org momentan.
Das Great 78 Project ist ein Gemeinschaftsprojekt zur Erhaltung, Erforschung und Entdeckung von 78rpm-Platten. Von etwa 1898 bis in die 1950er Jahre wurden schätzungsweise 3 Millionen Seiten auf 78rpm-Platten aufgenommen. Während die kommerziell verwertbaren Aufnahmen restauriert oder auf LPs oder CDs remastered wurden, liegt der Forschungswert immer noch in den Artefakten und Nutzungsnachweisen der oft seltenen 78rpm-Platten und -Aufnahmen. Bereits über 20 Sammlungen wurden vom Internet Archive für die physische und digitale Bewahrung und den Zugang ausgewählt.
