Die CD-ROM-Ausgabe entspricht der von Hans Jörg Sandkühler herausgegebenen und 2010 in 2., erweiterter Auflage erschienenen dreibändigen Buchausgabe. Die Enzyklopädie enthält 650 Artikel zu Begriffen aus dem Bereich Philosophie von 350 Autoren sowie ein Sach- und Personenregister. Sie umfasst in systematischer und geschichtlicher Darstellung Termini und Begriffe der Philosophie. Auf Darstellungen zu einzelnen Philosophen und Werken wurde verzichtet. Berücksichtigt wurden für das Verständnis der Philosophie wesentliche Schulen, Strömungen und Richtungen.
