DBIS - eHRAF World Cultures

The Ehraf World Cultures database currently contains around 500,000 pages. Over 200 peoples and ethnic groups are indicated on the basis of various sources. The field research data published in the form of ethnographic monographs, essays and manuscripts are based, which are used as primary data and, according to a highly complex and differentiated system, except for the level of individual paragraphs. The development takes place according to the Outline of Cultural Materials (OCM), which contains over 700 different classification elements. In addition, a keyword search at full text level is possible. The database is continuously updated.

Access throughout Germany is made possible by funding from the German Research Foundation (DFG) and organized by the Bavarian State Library in Munich.
Individuals with permanent residence in the Federal Republic of Germany can register personally for free access to the desired national license products if access via a university network or their academic library is not available to them.
