DBIS - Nineteenth Century U.S. Newspapers

The database contains the full texts of about 400 English-language newspapers from all US states and territories published between 1800 and 1900 and comprises about 1.8 million pages. The digitization is based on holdings of the Library of Congress, the Wisconsin Historical Society, the South Carolina Library, the Western Reserve Historical Society, the Scholarly Resources Archives, the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, and the Maryland State Archive. The collection features publications of all kinds, from the political party newspapers at the beginning of the 19th century to the major dailies that shaped the nation at the century′s end.
