The Historical-Biographical Lexicon of Switzerland (HBLS) is the predecessor of the Historical Lexicon of Switzerland (HLS). It was published from 1921 to 1934 by the General History Research Society of Switzerland, the forerunner of the Swiss History Society. All volumes are available on DigiBern, the online portal for the history and culture of the city and canton of Bern. To this day, the standard work is a source of information about people, families and towns.
