Bibliotheca Laureshamensis – Digital

The database provides descriptions and digitized copies of manuscripts of the former Monastic Library of Lorsch. The aim of the project "Bibliotheca Laureshamensis − digital" was to virtually recreate the library of Abbey Lorsch, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. More than 330 medieval, mainly Carolingian manuscripts are still preserved today and scattered in over 70 libraries worldwide. The manuscript SEARCH option provides the possibility to search for contexts of the manuscripts' origin as well as codicological and palaeographical data. It enables a selective search for previous owners, authors, titles, incipits, and subjects or types of texts. The database has been implemented with the software Koha and is being hosted by the Library Service Centre Baden−Württemberg (BSZ).
