Historical Thesaurus of English, The

The Historical Thesaurus of English has been compiled by the University of Glasgow since 1965. It includes around 800,000 words from Old English to modern English, arranged according to subject groups. For each entry there is information about its meanings, synonyms and relationships to other words. The thesaurus is based on the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) and the Thesaurus of Old English.
