Online Primary Sources for Russian, Caucasian, Central Asian, Eastern & Central Europe Studies

The aim of the database Online Primary Sources is to facilitate access to sources from Russia, Caucasus, Central Asia, East and Central Europe. The collection currently comprises more than 1800 sources, starting from the 1st century BC BC to the present, which were put online by different institutions (as of July 2025).

Short descriptions are offered in English for the individual sources. The search can be limited via various filters (period, geographical area, institution, source type and language).

The database is curated by the Center for Russian, Caucasian and Central European Studies (Cercec) in Paris, a joint research unit by CNRS (Center National de la Research Scientifique) and Ehess (École of the skin Études en Sciences Sociales).

The collection is continuously expanded, sources can be proposed to include in the database.
