African Studies Library

The African Studies Library is the specialist portal for African studies and offers a central research portal for an integrated catalog search of specialist sections of national and international library holdings. By logging in it is possible to use personalized services, such as creating watch lists. You don't need a new user account for this, you can simply log in using your ORCID ID.
The bilingual (English, French) African Studies Toolbox Blog also offers other helpful resources on African studies: information on research data management, open access, online resources for African studies or information on special Africa-related library collections and archives. On the news page you will ﬁnd news about conferences, webinars and job offers on Africa-related research.
Information and access options to the licensed databases are also contained in the portal; All interested scientists in Germany can register for this free of charge.

The research portal African Studies Library replaces the previous literature search “ilissAfrica” (Internet Library Sub-Saharan Africa). The number of integrated library catalogs has been increased and functionalities and ease of use have been improved.
The African Studies Library is a project of the African Studies Specialist Information Service (FID), which has been funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) since 2016.
