In this database, 5 million Hungarian civil status registers are available in open access. On the website it says: Article XXXIII of the Law XXX from 1894 provided for the introduction of state registration of births, marriages and deaths in Hungary from October 1, 1895. According to this law, the district's registrar were also obliged to make a duplicate of the registers that had to be deposited in the archives of the commentary archive responsible for the area. In this way, the collection of copies of the civil status registers, which bears the name HU-MNL-PML-XXXIII.1.A in our facility, originated in the commentary archives. The obligation to make copies was canceled on January 1, 1981 by the law decree No. 5 from 1981, so that the date of closing the collection of December 31, 1980 is.
