Patent information from the Derwent World Patent Index and the Patents Citation Index.

The Thomson Scientific Derwent Innovations Index is a web-based database containing patent literature from more than 40 patent registrars. In particular, the patent information of the European Patent Office, the Japanese Patent Office, the US Patent and Trademark Office, the leading national European patent offices including Germany, France and Great Britain and the important Asian patent offices such as China, India, Korea and Taiwan are included in the Derwent Innovations Index.
The Derwent Innovations Index comprises more than 14.3 million inventions in the form of approximately 30 million documents covering all areas of chemistry, electrics, electronics and technology from 1963 onwards, each of which is supplemented by patent specialists with supplementary information: for example, additional titles are awarded which specifically designate the invention, English language summaries are drawn up and a classification according to the so-called Derwent Class Code is awarded.
