The Treasury of Lives ist eine biographische Enzyklopädie und beinhaltet Artikel über historische Personen sowie Familien aus Tibet, der Himalaya-Region und den angrenzenden Gebieten in Zentralasien. Hierzu gehören z.B. buddhistische Lehrer, Künstler, Wissenschaftler und Politiker.
Die mehr als 1200 Beiträge stammen von über 100 verschiedenen Wissenschaftlern und sind überwiegend peer reviewed. Ursprünglich wurde das Open-Access-Projekt von der Shelley and Donald Rubin Foundation in New York getragen und ist mittlerweile eine eigenständige gemeinnützige Organisation.
