The Open Music Academy (or OMA for short) is a free internet service that has two tasks: 1) OMA offers an open learning platform on which musicians can make their knowledge available as open educational resources under a Creative Commons license. Motivated by Wikipedia, Stack Overflow and similar projects, OMA tries to transfer the idea of openness to the topic of music. 2) OMA offers a learning management system (LMS) with internal (access-restricted) rooms. The storage space for storing materials for private or institutional music lessons in the internal area is subject to a fee. In addition, OMA offers a collection of free music and free images for reuse in freely available teaching materials. The platform is funded by the Foundation for Innovation in University Teaching and hosted by the Munich University of Music and Theater.
