Danam, the digital archive of Nepalese art and monuments, is developed by the Nepal Heritage Documentation Project, which is located at the Heidelberg Center for Transcultural Studies at the University of Heidelberg and the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences. The project funded by the non -profit fund Arcadia provides equipment and bundles expertise for extensive field research for documenting the cultural heritage in Nepal, data management and the development of Danam since October 2018. The data records in Danam include structured information about the history of monuments, iconography, objects, multilepligent monument descriptions and anthropological data as well as comprehensive photographic documentation of inscriptions and monument views as well as architectural drawings and plans. Danam is based on Arches (V4), an open source graphics technology platform for the management of cultural heritage repositories. The content is divisible and interoperable to ensure long -term access, storage and smooth usability of the monument data for the general public and cultural researchers.
