Sie geben Auskunft über Wetterereignisse und ihre Folgen für Mensch und Umwelt, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf der Zeit zwischen 1501 und 1863 liegt, d.h. bis zum Beginn der kontinuierlichen landesweiten Instrumentenmessungen im Netz der heutigen MeteoSchweiz im Jahr 1864.
