Die Datenbank ColourLex analysiert berühmte Gemälde in Bezug auf die verwendeten Farbpigmente. Außerdem enthält die Datenbank ein Lexikon, in dem die verschiedenen Farbtöne aufgelistet sind; eine chemische Analyse der einzelnen Pigmentbestandteile ist hier ebenso zu finden wie auch die kunsthistorische Verwendung des Farbtons.
