Lichtbildarchiv LBA

The Photographic Archive of Older Original Documents (LBA) is a unique collection and documentation for researching original documents of the Roman-German Empire from the period before 1250. Since 1928, it has been gradually photographing documents from the area of the medieval German Empire. Its holdings not only allow the investigation of basic scientific questions, but also offer a visual, source-oriented approach to medieval history in general. All holdings are digitized and made available online in a database.
The document images can be researched and viewed using various search filters. A personalized registration also allows ordering via a shopping cart system and the compilation of your own presentations. After prior registration, it is also possible to view the photographic panels on site.
